How do we identify leads?

Learn how ensun identifies leads.

Your Identified Leads table shows companies that interacted with your presence on ensun and demonstrated search intent. This article explains where those companies come from and how they're recognized.

Reverse-IP tracking

When a company interacts with your ad or company profile on ensun, we use reverse-IP technology to match the visit to the business behind it.

Company networks typically use identifiable IP ranges. We match those ranges against company data to determine which business the visit came from, without collecting anything about the individual person visiting.

Note: ensun identifies companies only – never individual visitors. No personal information is collected or shared.

What counts as an interaction

Unlike traditional advertising platforms, ensun doesn't only track clicks. A company can also be identified when it:

  • views your ad or company profile

  • hovers over your ad or company profile

  • scrolls through your ad or company profile

  • engages with your ad or company profile inside relevant content

This means you see interest that a click-only metric would miss entirely.

Where these companies come from

Most identified companies found your business by searching relevant keywords on platforms such as:

  • Google

  • Bing

  • ChatGPT

  • ensun directly

Because they arrived through an active search, they are usually already in the evaluation stage of their buying journey rather than at the top of the funnel.

Ads and organic leads

Identified leads can come from two sources:

  • ensun Ads: companies that interacted with your paid placements

  • Organic analytics: companies that found and viewed company profiles on ensun without an ad

Both are identified with the same reverse-IP method but appear in the same table format.

Limitations

Not every visit can be matched to a company. Identification is not possible when:

  • the visitor uses a VPN or proxy

  • the company uses dynamic IP addresses

  • privacy settings or tracking protection block identification

  • the visit comes from a private connection (home office, mobile network) rather than a company network

  • the IP range cannot be reliably attributed to a single company

We only list a company when the match is reliable, so you don't waste outreach on guesses.

FAQs

Does a company need to be registered on ensun to be identified?

No. Companies interacting with your ads or profile may not have an ensun account at all. Reverse-IP tracking works independently of registration.

Can ensun identify every company that interacts with my ad?

No. Because of the technical limits above, only a portion of interactions can be matched. See How many identified leads do I receive? for the current detection rate.

Is this GDPR-compliant?

We identify organizations, not people. No personal data about individual visitors is collected, stored or shared with you.

Can I see which specific person visited?

No. Identification stops at company level. To find the right contact person, use ensun Search Pro or LinkedIn.
